A good diamond will appear lively and clear where as a poor colour diamond will appear duller and more yellow or grey in colour. A diamond colour is rated from D to Z. D is the highest colour (exceptional white) and Z would probably be opaque brownish colour. At CM Diamonds the diamond will be colour I or higher.%3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cfont size=%222%22 face=%22Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif%22%3E%3Cu%3EColour Comparison Table%3C/u%3E%3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cfont size=%222%22 face=%22Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif%22%3E%3Cimg src=%22/images/colour_table.gif%22 width=%22300%22 height=%22307%22%3E%3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cfont size=%222%22 face=%22Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif%22%3E%3Cbr%3E %3Cu%3E%3Cstrong%3ECARAT%3C/strong%3E%3C/u%3E%3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cfont size=%222%22 face=%22Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif%22%3ECarat is the unit of weight used to measure a stone. One carat = 0.2grams. A carat is made up of a 100 points. A half carat stone is 0.50cts, a quarter carat is 0.25cts etc. Some stones appear bigger than others because of their proportions (the spread of a stone-see diagram). If a lot of weight is in the pavilion of the stone it will appear smaller when viewed from on top. Pearshapes, marquise and oval diamonds often tend to be flatter and therefore appear bigger.%3Cbr%3E %3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E %3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cfont size=%222%22 face=%22Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif%22%3E%3Cu%3EDIAMOND DESCRIPTION %3C/u%3E%3Cbr%3E A diamond is divided into three sections%3A %3Cbr%3E %3Cstrong%3ECrown%3C/strong%3E - the upper section of the diamond %3Cbr%3E %3Cstrong%3EPavilion%3C/strong%3E - the lower section of the diamond %3Cbr%3E %3Cstrong%3EGirdle%3C/strong%3E - the rim separating the crown (top) from the pavilion (bottom) %3Cbr%3E %3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cfont size=%222%22 face=%22Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif%22%3E%3Cimg src=%22/images/diamond_desc.gif%22 width=%22180%22 height=%22119%22%3E%3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cfont size=%222%22 face=%22Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif%22%3EOur stones have been chosen because of their colour and clarity. These should be considered of equal importance. It would be pointless having a D colour stone with visible flaws in it! All our listed stones are certificated which means they have been laboratory tested for their colour and clarity by independent gemologists. We do however, keep non certificated diamonds which are generally used for ½ eternity rings, earrings and pendants. These are less expensive because they have not been tested but this does not necessarily mean they are inferior quality.%3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E%3Cfont size=%222%22 face=%22Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif%22%3EIf you are hesitant about choosing a diamond or ring from the internet, please make an appointment to visit us on our contact page.%3Cbr%3E %3C/font%3E%3C/p%3E~~~~~~~(default)~0~0~0,0,0|0,0~0~si2~~~~-1~0~0~~~~~~~~Left~~~popWin=0~-1~0~text~[~~]~[~~]~[~~]~1~~~~
